Item description: A Sergeant figure elegantly posed in a elaborated suit costume, holding a pole axe and a sword attached to their sheath.
In 1587, Goltzius published the series of 12 prints entitled “Soldiers and Officers of the Bodyguard of Emperor Rudolph II”. Jacques de Gheyn II studied engraving under Goltzius. Emulating the technique of his master, De Gheyn design the engraving after Goltzius.
