Landmarks on the Emigrant Trail
1. Granite Pass from Goose Creek
Where the old Emigrant Trail entered Nevada at the Utah Border.
2. Rock Spring
Also called Cave Spring. A half-way point between Little Goose Creek and Thousand Springs.
3. Gravelly Ford
On the Humboldt River, four miles east of Beowawe. The first watering place and campground after Emigrant Pass.
4. Black Rock Point
Dust storm at the site of an important hot spring between Rabbit Hole Springs and Soldier Meadows on the Lassen-Applegate Trail.
5. High Rock Canyon
Spectacular rock formation from which the long gorge takes its name.
6. Mustang Corral
Terminus of High Rock Canyon at the northwest end, not far from Massacre Lake.
7. Painted Point
Well-known landmark fifteen miles east of Vya, on the east side of Long Valley.
8. Forty-Nine Pass
Last pass before the Emigrant Trail leaves Nevada, east of Cedarville, California.
