After the painting by William Hamilton (1751-1801). One of twelve prints, portraying the months of the year. "Januarius, Bruma novi prima est veterisque novissima solis: Principium capiunt Phoebus et annus idem (January, Midwinter is the first of the new Sun and the last of the old: Phoebus and the year take the same beginning)."
Item description: Scene with three women in dresses standing near a tree next to a frozen lake, while a nearby boy is putting on ice-skates. In the background, more people are ice skating on the lake.
