Artist: Warrington Colescott (American, 1921-2018)
Warrington Wickham Colescott Jr. was an American artist, he is best known for his satirical etchings. He was a master printmaker and operated Mantegna Press. Colescott earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley. He majored in fine art, and was active with the university humor magazine, as well as the university newspaper, submitting cartoons and writing for both publications. He taught art at Long Beach City College from 1947 to 1949. In September 1949, he began his career at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he taught for 37 years, retiring in 1986.
