Artist: Johann Elert Bode (German, 1747-1826)
Johann Elert Bode was a German astronomer. He is best known for the Bode’s Law, or the Titius-Bode rule, an empirical mathematical expression for the relative mean distance between the sun and its planets. In 1801, Bode created Uranographia, which is a collection of 20 star maps accompanied by a catalog of 17,240 stars and nebulae.
