Artist: Hans Meyer-Kassel (1872-1952)
German immigrant Hans Meyer-Kassel was a classically trained painter, who fell in love with the American West after visiting California. He and his wife Maria lived in Nevada for 20 years, spending most of that time in Carson Valley’s Genoa.
Meyer-Kassel’s paintings hang in state capitals, castles and government buildings across the US and Europe. He is even featured on a US postage stamp. Four portraits of Nevada Governors grace the walls of the Nevada Capitol Building, and he restored many more Gubernatorial portraits.
