The Lilley Museum of Art is located on the main campus of the University of Nevada, Reno.
MessageDennis Ray Beall is a printmaker, educator, curator, and administrator. He studied at San Francisco State College, now San Francisco State University, where he produced a body of abstract expressionist color lithographs created from single stones and transparent color washes. His first solo exhibition at the East/West Gallery in San Francisco in 1957 featured these lithographs. He later turned to intaglio printmaking with the assistance of John Ihle.
Beall taught printmaking at SFSU. He was named Professor Emeritus in 1992. Beall is a member of the California Society of Printmakers and served as president in 1970.
Dennis Beall’s work has been featured in over twenty-five solo exhibitions and over 200 exhibitions internationally. Beall’s work is held in the collections of the Janet Turner Print Museum, California State University Chico; the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Museum of Modern Art New York and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, the University of Oklahoma, Norman; the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, California; the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; and the Worcester Art Museum, Massachusetts.
