Artist: Ali Jabbar (b. 1963)
Ali Jabbar is an Iraqi and Danish artist who devoted his time starting in 1885 to making artwork. He was born in Iraq in 1963, and moved to Denmark in 1992, where he then obtained Danish citizenship. For education, Jabbar first studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1882, then later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1987, and lastly at the Graphic Design School in Copenhagen, Denmark. Ali Jabbar’s artistic discipline focuses on painting, sculpture, and design. He is known for his sculptures in bronze, steel, and stone, as well as his abstract-cubist fusion paintings of landscape and figures that focus on a stark contrast through his use of colors. Jabbar has been included in many Biennials including the Baghdad International Biennial, the Cairo Painting Biennial, the Tehran Painting Biennial, the Grand Palais Biennial in Paris and the Sharja International Biennial. Jabbar currently resides in London where he continues to work as an artist.
