In my artistic exploration, I confront the weight of racial trauma through the metaphor of emotional baggage. Each of us carries a unique burden, and for me, it's a lifetime of racial trauma, vividly retriggered by witnessing George Floyd's final breath in a viral video. My baggage carts, symbolic vessels for this collective anguish, transcend the personal to illuminate broader societal narratives. Designed as a deliberate separation from these experiences, the carts become transformative vessels, allowing me to forge a path unburdened by the constraints of the past. In this series, I invite contemplation on the universal choices we make in handling our emotional baggage — to either be defined by it or to courageously release it, opening doors to new possibilities and collective healing.
