Artist: Therman Statom
American artist Therman Statom was born in Winter Haven Florida in 1953. From a young age he discovered his love for art. Today he is best known as a sculpture, glass artist and painter; whose life-size works leave his audience awed. Statom attended Glass Pilchuck Glass Center, continued to get his Bachelors in Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design and earned his Masters in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute of Art and Design. He started showing in museums and galleries in the US in 1980. Since then he has also exhibited in public areas like libraries, hospitals and universities. His glass gluing technique has allowed him to create larger for indoors and outdoor displays. Nowadays he has been focusing on community outreach programs, where he teaches children about art and has made a great impact. He believes in the value of education and the positive effect that has on the community.
