During my higher education, I never had a female teacher and women were not present in art history as it was taught. However, my experience in the Bay Area introduced me to the nascent artist space and community art movements, feminist performance, the economic reality of being a woman artist, and the larger role an artist can and should play in both the art-making process, how it is presented, and its role in communities - the art ecosystem not the art market.
I have been in San Diego since 1973 and active for over 45 years, I have forged a career that intertwines my painting and my work in support of the arts community.
