Red Spider Lily

The red spider lily, also known as Lycoris or cluster amaryllis, is a toxic plant often found near graves or field edges to deter animals. Its vivid red blossoms bloom near the autumn equinox and are associated with the Buddhist scripture Lotus Sutra as the guiding flower of the afterlife. With leaves and flowers never meeting, it symbolizes separation and longing.
