*"Inside Out"*
"Through the layers of trees, I see a sense of peace, but upon closer look, it reveals contradiction and helplessness."
During the journey of living abroad, conversations with those who stayed in Hong Kong and others scattered across the world revealed a growing divergence in thoughts and information. The once-shared language gradually gave way to differences, leading to arguments and misunderstandings. Many issues remain unresolved, and finding reconciliation often feels impossible.
The trees in the painting symbolize the barriers that separate us. Beyond them, we see people seemingly at ease, appearing to live leisurely lives. But a closer look reveals that they are not truly at peace—they are lying flat in a state of powerlessness, unable to act or effect change.
This piece explores the contradictions between outward calm and inner struggle in a life of diaspora, uncovering the invisible divides between individuals and the weight of helplessness that permeates existence.
