《嫁接》

「傷口又再長出了新的生命，結成了漂亮的花。」

2019年的社會運動後，每個人都帶著不同程度的創傷（trauma）。因應各自的選擇與境遇，有些人決定離開，遠走他方，從此，離散的時間線被切斷。對於離開的人而言，時間彷彿停留在出發的那一刻，像一道未能癒合的傷口；而留下來的人，則被迫在變化中繼續前行。

然而，在新的地方，離散的靈魂開始紮根，創造出新的生活——新的花朵在傷口上綻放，象徵著新生與希望。

作品中的洋紫荊，自1965年起成為香港的市花。它是一種雜交品種，與香港這座城市一樣，擁有混合而獨特的身份。然而，正如大部分雜交植物無法自然繁殖，洋紫荊也極少結果，唯有透過人工方式（如嫁接）才能延續生命。

這種特性恰似因傷而離散的香港人——因社會事件而離開，遷移至異地，在新的土壤上努力生長。正如嫁接後的植株，在陌生的環境中重新紮根，開出鮮艷的花朵，這些流散者亦在異鄉築起新的生活，綻放屬於自己的希望。

“Grafting”

“The wounds have once again given birth to new life, forming beautiful flowers.”

After the social movements of 2019, everyone carried trauma to varying degrees. Due to different circumstances and choices, some chose to leave and build a life elsewhere. From that moment on, the timelines of those who stayed and those who left were severed. For those who left, time seemed to freeze at the moment of departure—like an unhealed wound—while those who remained had no choice but to move forward.

Yet, in new lands, the displaced began to take root, creating new lives—flowers blooming from wounds, symbolizing rebirth and hope.

The Bauhinia blakeana, Hong Kong’s city flower since 1965, is a hybrid species. Like Hong Kong itself, it embodies a mixed and unique identity. However, as with most hybrids, it cannot reproduce naturally. It rarely bears fruit and can only be propagated through artificial methods such as grafting.

This mirrors the journey of Hong Kong’s diaspora—uprooted by trauma, transplanted to foreign lands, and forced to adapt. Just as a grafted plant takes hold in unfamiliar soil, these individuals strive to rebuild their lives, eventually blossoming into something new, carrying their resilience and hope forward.
