As the second painting in the series, "Abundance" has more of a story. Although the primary goal is still aesthetics, my desire to tell stories and find meaning has crept in through the back door.
Half of all vegetables, fruits and flowers come from my own garden. Also, all food here is strictly selected according to my usual purchasing criteria: regional, seasonal, organic and fairtrade.
If you like, this painting is also a statement on the subject of "foodwaste", because of course all the food shown here went into my cooking pot.
In the tradition of still lifes, but not so obvious, "Abundance" is also a stimulus to think about transience. This picture represents a real snapshot. Everything that can be seen in this painting no longer exists in this form today. A "memento mori" completely without skulls.
