This vessel is a classic representation of a Santa Clara ceramic work. The black shiny exterior with the incised black designs into the surface of the work is a traditional Santa Clara ceramic technique. San Ildefonso also shares this visual characteristic in their ceramics. This vessel features the design of a "demon" with an arrow in its teeth. This work was produced by the artist Genevieve Suez, the signature on the bottom of the vessel reading, "Genevieve Suez, Santa Clara."
