This terra cotta pot comes from the San Ildefonso tribe of New Mexico. The San Ildefonso were an isolated farming community. Traditionally, pottery from this tribe was red and black polychrome. However, this vessel is an orange and beige colored pot. They remain consistent to other tribes in the area as far as content, sticking with natural designs like wildlife, and, in this case, feathers. The bottom of this vessel is signed with the artist's name and tribe.
