Robert A. Nelson combines man's best friend with man's greatest creation in this mixed media work. Frankenstein's Dog #9 fuses biology, machinery, and fantasy into a single, hybrid form. The dog is rendered as a transparent anatomical diagram interwoven with mechanical components. This fusion of organic and artificial elements evokes themes of transformation, experimentation, and the blurred boundaries between nature and invention. The title itself references Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, invoking ideas of creation, identity, and the consequences of scientific ambition and the ethics of creation.
