MessageThis modern painting has a classic feel: it was inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s “Garden of Earthly Delights”, created in the Early Renaissance. Godeke nods to the time period in his painting through the use of earth tones and specific styles that gained traction during the Renaissance. He incorporates humanism by using curious poses, and the placements of human forms communicate an aspect of the human experience. The painting also expresses hints of sfumato, a common technique during the Renaissance used to describe an object by blending different tones into one another to create softened outlines. His use of various green and yellow tones creates a warm, yet eerie mood to the work. His intentional object placement and color awareness create a visually pleasing and thought-inspiring painting.
