This vase comes from the Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico. This is a typical Acoma ceramic vessel, in the sense that it is keeping within traditions of Acoma ceramic works. Acoma ceramics are classified by their thin walls and light weight, as well as the black and white geometric patterns found on many of the ceramic vessels from this pueblo. This vessel contains both those characteristics. This vase is a good example of what traditional Acoma pottery is. The bottom is signed "V. Stevens, Acoma N.M."
