The early morning has slipped away as I hiked along the shore in the late August light. It may rain just a little but it will matter not to the grasses. They have gone to seed and dried into dormancy between the cliff side rocks. I cast my eyes out over the sea - searching for sea lions, seals or a heron and maybe even an orca. None this morning though. Except for the occasional small song bird and the gentle waves caught on a soft breeze, all is quiet.
