Winds had howled for days. It was the second storm in just a few weeks. As the storm edged its way back I headed for the shores. The breaking light was stunning and the waves were still smashing up against the rocks with gusto. There is this sensation of being all in one - a wholeness, alive. I stood with sea gathering reference material and began work on this canvas in my winter studio shortly thereafter. The beauty and fierce cold stayed with me as I painted.
