Until quite recently (in evolutionary terms), plants have not been mobile, with only their seeds/spores/pollen able to travel via the wind, insect and bird. The species pictured here was spotted in the remote jungles of the ancient Connecticut region, with wing-like projections carrying it into the air and with trailing roots. Interestingly, the flying and mobile tongue is being used to capture a previous ally, a bird.
