Temiskaming Art Gallery
Untitled (Young Woman) by Joice Edwards Image: This piece is almost laughable, because it is colour xerography, now in everyone’s home office, but thirty years ago, I had to travel to an Artists’ Resource Centre on Queen’s Quay, Toronto, the only or one of a few places to do xerography. The image and the blue colour in the heart shape was to point to the over use of that symbol for LOVE when it all too often meant one type of love. The blue also represented deep unknown waters – youth so vulnerable and maybe a little ‘lost at sea’. The diamond shapes represent the lure of wealth that could lead to tight corners when mixed with emotional sex.
