Since 1980, the Temiskaming Art Gallery (TAG) has been pivotal in promoting and showcasing visual art in northeastern Ontario.

This painting was selected for the cover of the 1993 cover of the Temiskaming Art Gallery Calendar. The prize was the purchase of the work. The theme was historical buildings. This blacksmith shack in Cobalt is a well-known tourist attraction. The blacksmith, legend goes, in throwing a hammer at a pesky fox, discovered a vein of silver and thus began the 1900 silver rush in Cobalt.
