Oh Cobalt Town by Roberta Haviland  Image: It was interesting to put the painting in the context of a piece of work done early in my career. The winter trips to Cobalt were challenging in that I had never painted in brutal cold conditions before and the work didn’t go well; sometimes however, I came away feeling like a cultural hero…O Cobalt started as a series of small sketches which I later translated into the block print, a full-sheet watercolour and a large canvas.
