The Gift: Burning Earth, Lily's Gift, & Keystone by Tashina Marie Image: Keystone-Draws Upon imagery from the land and natives of the Pacific Northwest. This shows a thriving ecosystem with a trout ( a keystone species) swimming in the rivers. The NPS spends considerable effort protecting and nurturing keystone species.
The Gift: Burning Earth, Lily's Gift, & Keystone by Tashina Marie Image: Burning Earth-Draws upon Southwestern native art to depict a world where our natural resources are not protected. It shows imagery of drought and fire caused by overconsumption and climate change. A single drop of water hangs from the point. This is meant to be a statement on how important it is to protect our ecosystems and what the world could become without people and organizations like the NPS actively working to protect our natural places from development and corporate greed.
The Gift: Burning Earth, Lily's Gift, & Keystone by Tashina Marie Image: Lily's Gift-An interpretation of the NPS logo with the addition of hands holding a lily to represent the gift from the Lily foundation. This serves as a transition piece between the 2 extremes on either side of it. On the ground below the mountains, a scene of cut-up tress shows a logged, unprotected forest. In the sky above, a butterfly serves as a symbol of transformation and hope flying into a joyful, radiant sun. The NPS logo draws upon imagery of native tribes from the Great plains. The arrowhead has many blue drops hanging from it, which represents both tears for the land and cultural memories already lost, as well as the cleansing waters of a good rain shower to show hope for the future.
