Block Party Eagle - Community Mural Project 2022

In April of 2022, Tara Novak, Program Director of EagleARTS Nonprofit was asked by the Block Party Eagle producers to create and manage a community art project for participants to engage in during their annual Block Party Festival, the weekend of June 3rd and 4th, 2022. This well known and anticipated festival occurs on Broadway Street in Downtown Eagle, entertaining thousands of festival goers with over 20 bands throughout the weekend; What kind of project would the community want to participate in? Where should it be displayed? Who would sponsor it? Only just a couple of the logistics needed to be worked out... Tara partnered with local artist and graphic designer, Carrie Calvin, to take Tara's "Celebrate Eagle" mural design, cut it into 96 pieces, and turn it into a huge "paint by number" project. 7 amazing local businesses jumped in to sponsor the project. The EagleARTS team, along with several enthusiastic volunteers signed up community members and festival goers to join in, each painting their own 12x12" square of the mural. It took 2 weeks and lots of creative work, then the mural installation was finally finished and revealed at the EagleARTS ARTwalk on June 10th.

The mural installation will be up for the foreseeable future, delighting passersby. It can be found on the QuietKat and OCG Construction(both sponsors) building, at the corner of Broadway and Second Streets, in Downtown Eagle. Tara and the EagleARTS team are grateful for all the support from Block Party Eagle, the community, and all of the sponsors(Paint Bucket, Alpine Lumber, Masiak Construction, Desmond Builders, and Block Party) for helping create this vibrant community installation that represents not just the Town of Eagle, but the natural environment we love and the adventurous spirit of the people who make this place so special.
