Urban Decay explores the profound dialogue between the perceived permanence of human structures and Mother Nature’s relentless, restorative cycles. This work is a visual and tactile metaphor for resilience, built using a non-traditional, sculptural process with trowels and palette knives. Layered plasters, shimmer of metallics, and embedded textiles form a rugged, multi-dimensional topography. The deliberate use of oxidizing metal introduces a raw element of genuine decay, capturing the natural process of breaking down and rebuilding. This material complexity mirrors the human experience: our lives are built, worn down by time, and repeatedly layered again. The piece ultimately celebrates the powerful life force that endures—a shared ability of both natural and human spirit—to constantly change, endure, and persist.
