After 30 years as a graphic designer and small business owner, I decided to return to my roots. Art is my passion and horses have always been my inspiration.
MessageAs a painter and more recently a sculptor, my work is inspired by the presence of the horse. I am fascinated by the connection between horse and human. This theme is often where my work begins. I collect antique tack and hardware...hence the collection "Once Upon A Horse". Finding unique ways to explore that connection in my art is what inspires me.
My sculpture is traditional bronze with a twist - look for the bits and spurs. My paintings are always evolving and most recently have a contemporary feel. I love the idea of lost lines and suggestions of form rather than the photo realism of my past.
I hope you enjoy the work and I welcome your comments and questions.
Statement
Sometimes you have to "buck" the system...find your own path...listen to that inner nagging voice. Nobody ever said it would be easy. In fact, most will discourage you because it is exactly the opposite!
That pretty much sums up my journey. I have spent decades trying to figure "it" out and do the responsible thing (whatever that means). And then I ended up here - an artist in progress, painting and sculpting horses. My work is inspired by a lifetime of loving horses, dogs and my kids. The latter all grown up now, it is time. I am a work in progress in more ways than one. When it comes to my art, I look back and see the development of my personal style. I appreciate the perfection that others have accomplished and I have simply practiced. I aspire to the perceived freedom of the impressionism style. Fluid brush work and the ability to capture the essence of a moment in clay are part of my ongoing quest. My work is an evolution of those endeavors.
