I first saw Cheryl's documentary a few years ago. Seeing Takaya living peacefully on one of the islands, gave me hope for a peaceful coexistence of people and wild animals. I felt proud for Canada back then. When I found out about his killing, I felt sad and disappointed in humans and the government. I've created this pendant to remind everyone about Takaya's story and say once again that it's cruel and not necessary to kill wild wolves. In this pendant, figure of a howling wolf takes a centerstage. He howls at a blood red moon symbolizing spilled blood. Takaya is pictured in his island environment, surrounded by sea and island life to show that wolf is an important link in the eco system. The fur tree connects him to his new home among the stars. Takaya himself is made out of chatoyant Hawks eye in the color of the night sky.
