My story behind the artwork:
The morning after Takaya’s long journey back to Discovery Island, Takaya howls up to the sky, to the warm hues of dawn. Later that morning, Takaya roams through his island home. The familiar sights, scents and sounds bring comfort, his place of refuge. He recognizes that particular arbutus tree he reposes under most afternoons. In the distance, Takaya notices Cheryl sitting on bluff. He walks up slowly, then stops several feet behind her. Whilst Cheryl is gazing at the Natural World, contemplating where Takaya might be on his journey, she feels a familiar presence watching her. Cheryl smiles, laughs quietly and says, “You’re back home!”
