"Growing up surrounded by the Etruscan and Roman ruins of ancient Italy, Larissa moved to Canada at the age of 18 and drew further inspiration for her artwork among the wild plains of Manitoba, bustling cities of Toronto and Vancouver, and the coastal vibrance of Vancouver Island.
Inspired by her travels, and by art techniques taught to her at an early age by her grandmother, Larissa developed a deep appreciation for the richness and variety of the world’s palette, as her private collection reflects. Featuring a range of watercolour landscapes, ink drawings and acrylic abstracts, Larissa’s emerging visual arts gallery demonstrates her enduring love for colour and nature. Her work represents her deep understanding of how colour is used to evoke personal, cultural, and historical meaning as she honours the use of pigment.
When she is not in her professional role as a student advisor, Larissa enjoys creating jewelry reusing leather furniture samples, and curating private wine events. Most recently, she was commissioned to illustrate a cultural holiday in the form of colouring pages for children. As an avid listener, Larissa recognizes the impact of the past and retains her identity as a participatory guest of Vancouver Island, which she now calls home with her husband and two children in Songhees territory.
