I grew up in Montreal. I had the good fortune as a young person to take art classes offered at the Art Museum with Arthur Lismer! I had no idea at the time that he was a famous Group of Seven painter. I just loved going to paint with him on Saturday mornings. In the mid ‘70’s I began my foundation art studies in the 2 year Arts Plastique program at Dawson C.E.G.E.P. Then I moved to Vancouver and enrolled in the B.F.A. studio arts program at UBC. I graduated with a scholarship award in 1979. Thinking that I would probably teach art and travel, I completed my teacher certification in the Professional Development Program at SFU. I taught adult continuing education life drawing classes at Capilano College. I taught children in Nigeria, West Africa. I painted backdrop scenes for Vancouver theatre companies. I painted nature displays for parks. I illustrated children activity manuals for teachers. I wrote exhibition reviews for Vanguard Magazine. I continue to exhibit my art in solo and group shows wherever I dwell. I am intrigued with watercolour paints and crayons. My backpack is stocked with a small watercolour set and a sketchbook. I have a basket full of these books. I enjoy sketching passing moments as a way to become more present. My meditation practice. I am grateful for this gift I carry. It is a precious mirror.
