The Almost Angular Drop of Corn Oil in the Frypan of the Baby Vegetables
Description: New World Myth reflects the artist’s early perception of America as a place of renewal compared to the “old continent.” The earth appears with the continents that have become living trees forms: the European side is a leafless tree, and the American continent is full of green leaves. Small personified “baby vegetables” fall into a frying pan that is cooking them, suggesting humans (the artist) entering a transformative system. Blending humor and symbolism, the painting imagines migration and rebirth as a surreal myth of the New World. It was a very thrilling time shown with the powerful beams of the sun. The baby vegetables series are inspired from rupestrian drawings (cave painting) were created for a series of paintings on August 24, 1986 and continued to appear in the artist's paintings for decades as they transformed into the next era of paintings. They have a historic value in the artist's life. Note: each baby vegetable have a name that can be provided upon request.
