This lion is a rescued animal at Moorpark college for training zookeepers. I was just about to leave the training zoo after a morning visit, when the lion came right up to the chain link fence next to the sidewalk and parked himself right there. I took many photos, then when I painted it I moved the fence to the back, because he seemed so accessible. The little sparrows indicate loneliness, as I imagine the lion is alone most of the time.
