This is an offshoot piece inspired by a recently commissioned work I made for someone retiring. In “Auto Encoder: Golden Years” I was thinking about our shift from fluid intelligence to crystallized intelligence later in life, and I used a diagram of an auto-encoder neural network (the gold leaf dots) to symbolize this transformation.
