This watercolor was inspired by the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, where mango trees once lined Mango Lane, the walkway connecting the two winter homes. Used regularly by Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, this shared path supported conversation, experimentation, and a daily rhythm of creative exchange. The mangoes reference both the landscape and the routines that quietly shaped their work and friendship.
Color is central to my practice for its ability to bring joy and draw attention to the overlooked. Working on rough Arches watercolor paper with a waxed finish presented without glass, I reduce visual barriers and invite close viewing. Through heightened color and tactile surface, the work reimagines the everyday as a source of creativity, connection, and cultivation.
