Carpentersville, IL
Susi Schuele is an abstract landscape painter, graphic designer and small boutique owner.
MessageSusi, originally from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, currently lives in Carpentersville, Illinois with her husband, Chuck, along with their cherished dogs and creative partners, Stardust and Luna. At the moment, Susi expresses her artistic flair through her boutique located at Painted Tree in Kildeer, IL, specifically in her designated area C16 named "Designs by Susi". Her collection includes textile art, smaller paintings, cards, prints, and a variety of art and craft items. Due to the intricate nature of macrame art, Susi features only one or two pieces of each unique creation in her space. Nevertheless, she can recreate or personalize items upon request. Furthermore, utilizing her graphic design expertise, she offers customized digital designs.
Susi, also a renowned abstract artist, operates from her home studio. After a long career in technology, graphic design, and web design, she found her artistic calling in abstract paintings in 2015. Planning to transition to semi-retirement in 2024, she has decided to scale back her professional commitments.

Statement
Artist Statement
I am an empath. Words cannot describe my art. Stories do. I tell my stories through abstract landscape paintings inspired by my life events, my imagination, inspirational quotes, scripture and music.
Gestural abstraction is my chosen discipline because of the freedom I feel painting loosely. Texture and color weave their way through pools of water and become my release from high anxiety. My technique is a minimalist approach to watercolor and gouache painting. I scrape paint across a strip of dry paper and use water, brush, palette knife or air to move the paint.
Abstract brings my world and your world together by allowing each individual to see and feel their own story through mine. Primary emotions of a color-infused visual are followed with secondary emotions of music or remembering the lyrics from select pieces’ carefully researched song titles. I hope my art connects you to a memory in your head and heart each time you view it.
