"People so busy, makes me feel dizzy
Taxi light shines so bright
But I don't need no friends
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset
I am in paradise"
~The Kinks
Vibrant colors and the grain in this wood had me picturing a wonderful, reflective lily pond so water was naturally in my thoughts. As most know, my art is all titled with song titles. I find a song that fits the piece or I create the piece inspired by the song, but music has an integral role.
"Waterloo Sunset" was written and performed by The Kinks in the 60's. The song speaks about a foggy London town along the Waterloo where a couple in love meet amidst the always busy and seemingly grey bustle to watch a glorious sunset. While I realize this is about a sunset along a river more than my lily pond, I do feel it is a really cool song for this piece. Especially in today's busy world where we often fail to "smell the roses".
