For years, our young family lived in my grandparents large house. I used to be their favorite grandchild. Back in the 50s and 60s, sweets were the rarest thing to get at the groceries. So I vividly remember how Grandma - here in a reddish dress - would oftentimes give me a slice of freshly buttered bread, thickly sugar-coated. She always got the bread at the best mill in town. A delicious, unforgettable taste. A highlight!
