Created by contemporary artist Susana Ramos, this striking Madonna sculpture of La Conquistadora, features an 18th-century Oaxacan chasuble, intricately adorned with contemporary floral embroidery. The Madonna is crowned with a Mexican crown and halo, embellished with shimmering rhinestones, and wears Oaxacan filigree jewelry.
The underskirt is made of rare 18th-century Italian point de Venise lace, showcasing an elegant dragon motif. An antique Spanish veil drapes gracefully, complemented by a cape adorned with exquisite guipure appliqués embellished with lustrous pearls. The sculpture rests on a bronze pedestal, elegantly supported by cherubim figures, and is accompanied by a vintage European crucifix and a Mexican rosary from Yucatán, adding a rich layer of cultural significance and historical references.
