As a child I was able board this defender of the our country when it was moored at the San Jacinto Monument. Unfortunately air and salt water have taken their toll. Luckily benefactors managed to get it to Galveston for a complete refurbishment. The future of the Battleship is still to be decided, but I am hoping that is finds a home in Galveston.
