“Stacked” was a different kind of project for me. I decided to limit my palette to black and white. Because the sculptures are already abstract, pushing that abstraction using patterns with a limited palette was fun. All of the sides of the sculpture meet in convex corners, which is also different than my usual work in spaces (concave corners), so I tried to work around the sculpture to create visual interest at various points and make the painting on the sculpture connect so that if you did walk around it, see it from the corner, or buzz by on the train there would be a visual flow to the shapes.
