The Fraser River flows more than 850 miles through British Columbia to empty into the Strait of Georgia and has for millennia been a the major spawning route for different salmon species. Due to industrialization, forestry and pollution the species are threatened and spawning numbers returning to the river have dropped substantially over the decades.
