This 1932 Studebaker is a symbolic marker in The Petrified Forest National Park. "Rt 66 was Known as the Main Street of America" and stood as a symbol of opportunity, adventure, and exploration to travelers"(PFNP website). I was fascinated by the energy of the light, its effects on form and color, and the vast openness of the landscape, which inspired me to create this painting in soft pastels.
