A five-color reduction linocut measuring 5 3/4 x 3 1/2" printed with Caligo SafeWash Ink on 10 x 8" Strathmore 300 printing paper.
Inspired by a red pine on the West Bay of Lake Nipissing, this project was created to honour the first Truth and Reconciliation Day in 2020.
Red pines do not change colour; the colour orange was chosen in honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day. The tree has had a difficult history, as seen by the lower branches. But the newer growth looks more robust. This is my hope for Canada's relationship with Indigenous people.
