I am inspired by joie de vivre and love of wild places. Making art is a journey towards enlightenment, and I invite you to join me on that journey.
MessageWhile trying to interpret an error message from my printer, these words struck me: If Problems Persist.
I was thinking of the many problems that persist. When my own problems persist, I find that spending time in nature is often a remedy; it doesn't solve the problem, but it puts it in perspective for me. I believe this to be generally true, in the sense that our isolation from the natural world creates its own problems, that reconnecting can start to address.
Abstracted organic shapes in the lower two-thirds of the painting are suggestive of the rocks of the Canadian Shield, found in abundance in the near north. Soft blues and yellows suggest water and sky on a bright, perhaps foggy, day. Shapes are created from ephemera and papers printed by the artist, some with added graphite lines. Wavy lines are formed with scribed marks and paint, suggesting water.
