I am inspired by joie de vivre and love of wild places. Making art is a journey towards enlightenment, and I invite you to join me on that journey.
MessageThis piece was my way of reminding myself about the important things in life, so is of course called "Embrace Joy."
This is an unusual painting: it is like two paintings in one, and is interactive.
I have been thinking about interactive art for a long time, and then one day on a walk in my neighbourhood, I spied some cupboard doors waiting for a new home. Home they came!
This door opens -- it can stay closed thanks to a small magnetic closure. And when you open it, you see a second painting behind the door!
I wanted the outside to look a bit like a graffitied wall, and created all these letters by stamping my hand printed paper with my #linocut alphabet. The image of the water lilies is from one of my many trips up north, and was created as a monoprint on the panel using a gelli plate.
I feel it works on several levels, and hope it finds a home where someone else enjoys clever things as well as beautiful things. It's 24 x 24"
The work is on a cradled wood panel. The door is mounted securely using bolts that can easily be tightened from front or back if needed.
As with all my recent work, the most recent monthly average of CO2 in the atmosphere is shown: 426.17
