Ladies Bedstraw (Galium verum), this fragrant plant was once harvested for mattress stuffing. The leaves are considered edible and it is used as a dye plant. From a photograph taken on Downland in West Sussex the vibrant yellow flowers stood out in a wild meadow area. The fabrics are naturally dyed with weld and overdyed with indigo for the green, the embroidery is chain stitch in linen thread.
